PROJECTS

Aquazonia

We created the Amazon Water Impact Index, the first science-based diagnosis of the general health status of Amazonian aquatic ecosystems in Brazil. Support from the Serrapilheira Institute.

Smoke Screen

An in-depth analysis of fire and deforestation data in the Amazon exposes the intrinsic relationship between the two phenomenas. Support from the Rainforest Journalism Fund and the Pulitzer Center.

Hyperdiversity

Data visualization platform on the biodiversity of the tropics, with an emphasis on Brazil’s relevance to mitigating the effects of the climate crisis. Project led by the Sustainable Amazon Network.

Igapó, the forest made of water

Interactive infographic about the flooded forests of the Amazon, its iconic species and the challenges facing the climate emergency. In partnership with National Geographic Brazil.

Indigenous People in Brazilian Cities

Infographics and maps on the presence of representatives of Brazilian indigenous populations in the country’s major cities. Mongabay special series in partnership with the Pulitzer Center.

Silent Forest

A platform for visualizing data on the degradation of the Amazon rainforest, based on a paper published in Nature. This was a partnership with the Sustainable Amazon Network (RAS) that relied on support from InfoAmazonia.Org.
